Due to extenuating circumstances, we have been unable to participate in our water polo tournament today. We think they are intimidated by the fact that there are 3 WLGBC water polo teams competing against one from Maryland. Maybe the team name “floaties” has something to do with it. However, it has not been all splish and splash here at momentum. “The Reds” have been dominating the basketball court led by Dr. Matt Christy with fellow play-makers Jeremy Lehman and Cory “the flash” Catron.

In other news, when we’re not playing water polo, basketball or dutch blitz, we attend the regular sessions. Ashton (aka Laura) says, “good ole Franzy pants has been teaching us about Jeeezus.” As usual, Francis Chan has kept us laughing and thinking about heart piercing issues, such as getting off our bums and getting in the game, known as life. We also had the chance to soak up even more during our sponge sessions where we got to choose our own adventure. From 10 spiritual habits to worship and leadership, we expanded our knowledge in these areas.

We have all been concentrating on adequately hydrating for our big day tomorrow where we will be hammerin’ down on some homes. That’s all for now folks!

~ The Blogettes~

Well, we’re done with Saturday and are getting ready for bed. Hopefully we’ll have some students update tomorrow about what happened today.

In a nutshell: Francis Chan spoke tonight after Steve Fee led in worship. After that it was off to dorm meetings and then counselor groups.

Some new pictures are up on the flickr account on the left side …the ones of the girls are from last night…apparently Dutch Blitz has been a very popular game!

Also, the easiest way to look at the pictures may be to go to the DAILY PICS tab located up under the banner…I’ve just changed it to make it easier…and we’ll get better pics up tomorrow…promise.

Also, two new videos down to the left…one of about a minute of footage from our session tonight (you can see the OB choir singing at the end)…and one of Dan Remington.

Keep praying!

For those of you who don’t know…the staff that we have here with your students are:
Nick Deck
Tim and Jessica Robertson
Jason Conlon
Melissa McDairmant
Tim and Brandi Wright

I know it may seem like all fun and games, but we would sure appreciate your prayers this week, too. Right now we’re in the middle of a staff meeting where we’re hearing about all the upcoming week….. and let me tell you that we’re excited. We’re working with great groups like Convoy of Hope this week for our work projects. Also, tonight we will be hearing from Francis Chan and also one of the members of the USA 2-man bobsledding (I think his name is Brock).

So, please pray for us…many of us our tired…especially pray for the project managers this week…they’ve already been working hard several days to get things ready (we’re building 11 homes in Pearlington!).

Thanks,
Tim
(you can see some pics from the meeting on the right…I’m sure they’re glamorous :)

Sorry no update yesterday (wireless is hard to come by…we even tried on the bus), but after a long trip yesterday we’re finally in.  Students have nothing going on until 7:45 tonight, so it will be a good day to get oriented and explore the campus.  We’ll try to update more later today.

The campus so far has been great…and don’t worry…we have air conditioning.  Did I mention it was pouring as we came in last night?
Tim

See you bright and early tomorrow morning!  Don’t forget to have your prayer partners…

One other thing…if there are any dads who would be willing to help us load up the bus tomorrow that would be great.  Come find me (Tim) when you get there in the AM.

Ok, so we’re already thinking about AFTER Momentum…
Here’s the scoop:

Sunday, July 29 6-8pm Open Youth Center to hang out after Momentum (we will be joined by students whose families are here for Equip 07)

Thursday, August 2 6-9pm Cookout and Capture the Flag at the Hocking’s. (This is being moved from the night before!)
If you need a ride, please be at the youth center at 5:30pm. This is combined with area Grace Brethren Churches.

One last thing…here’s a taste of some Momentum artwork..

.nick-head.jpg

Isn’t God good? Thanks to all of you who joined us tonight to pray for our students and the Momentum conference. Please keep praying for them, and for the four requests we asked tonight:

1. To draw near to God
2. To be sensitive to the Holy Spirit
3. For our work teams and project leaders
4. For our return back home

Also, thanks to all of you who adopted students! If you have questions about this, you may email Tim at twrightatwlgbcdotcom.

Isn’t this cool?
Ok, so maybe you’re not blown away yet, but you will be….or your money back (not Momentum money…just money you invested in this blog…)

During Momentum you will able to see some video updates that we will update at least daily. These will be located at the bottom of the left column.

Right now you can check out Maribeth inviting you to the prayer service on Sunday.

This blog is the attempt to keep you updated before, during, and after ‘momentum’.

Here’s what we want you to do:
1. Check back often! We will have several students (maybe yours) blogging during the week about what’s going on their hearts and head.
2. Give us some feedback! You can leave comments on the blog (if it doesn’t show up right away its because your first comment will need to be approved….hope you understand).
3. Take a look at the daily pictures. There’s no need to scour the momentum site for a picture of your kid (look! I see their knee! I’m sure of it…)
4. And lastly, would you use this blog to pray for us each day…we could sure use it.

Tim

Its funny. I’ve heard a lot of people wanting to refer to our annual youth conference as ‘bnyc’ instead of the newly-minted ‘momentum’, and I honestly can’t blame them. Who are these ‘powers-that-be’ that have the audacity to change a good name? It’s always been this way….hasn’t it? (someone help! wikipedia is ignoring me!)

Sadly, it hasn’t always been called ‘bnyc’….we just often have a hard time changing…

And now we get to our first ever ‘momentum’. I’m very excited. For all of you who have joined groups on myspace, facebook, etc…let it go.

Let it go.
